3D LASER SCANNED
HIGH DETAIL PRESCRIPTION ORTHOTICS
Irish Made
A Prescription Orthotic is a medical device that is custom made to suit your
individual needs. The Prescription Orthotic is based on a 3D laser scan of your
foot along with an assessment from your Physical Therapist.
Your Prescription Orthotics are specially designed devices that are worn inside
the shoe to control abnormal foot function and/or accommodate painful areas of
the foot. Properly designed foot orthotics may compensate for impaired foot
function by controlling abnormal motion across the joints of the foot.
This may result in result in dramatic improvement in foot symptoms. The
Prescription Orthotics your Physical Therapist provides are custom-made for your
feet and modified to suit your particular needs.
The Prescription Orthotics that are dispensed by our clinic are custom made by
Foothealth here in Ireland for your feet, they should not be confused with
over-the-counter arch supports. These over the counter inserts may help the
patient with occasional minor arch discomfort, but they frequently fail because
they do not properly control foot function and/or do not properly fit the
patient's feet.
Prescription Orthotics are made from a 3D Laser scan or cast of your feet.
Walking across a colourful force platform may provide useful information on
pressure areas on the bottom of your feet,
but it CANNOT capture a three dimensional impression of your foot. Supports
based on information from force platforms, ink impressions and the like, cannot
result in true Prescription Orthotics but can help in the diagnostic process.

What can happen when my arch collapses?
Collapsed Arch
Orthotic Fitted
 When
your arch collapses it causes you leg to rotate inwards. This can cause various
areas of stress within the body. Some of these areas of stress are listed below
being
named as their more common known conditions.
When the Prescription Orthotic is fitted the arch is held in a more anatomically
correct position. The
body is
then forced to function correctly.
As the body adjusts to it's new way of
functioning
discomfort can arise in new areas but this soon subsides over a few weeks as the
Prescription Orthotics are broken in by the body.
